What’s the 2015 version of the newspaper outside your hotel room door? The New York Times and Financial Times may have the answer to that question with their new program that promises guests in select U.S. hotels unlimited access to both online news services on any device connected to the hotel’s network. Participating hotels will be able to buy their own branded web portal to provide free access to both NYTimes.com and FT.com. This new delivery platform is emblematic of the creativity which traditional media – once unrivaled – has had to employ to command the attention of audiences with more choices than ever. In a joint press release by the news companies, Financial Times print circulation director Janet White said: “This platform will provide hotel guests with a seamless user experience to access two of the world’s top media organizations.” Look out for this new program next time you stay at a hotel – you won’t even have to open the door.
