Lauren Pratapas served as the head of communications and public relations for CNN in Washington, DC– the network’s largest bureau. Throughout her 10 years at CNN, Lauren directed strategy for CNN’s brand presence in Washington, leading all public relations initiatives, proactive and reactive, for DC-based shows, anchors, and beats.

At CNN, she provided strategic and tactical support for the Washington Bureau Chief and executive team, overseeing messaging, talking points, and internal communication.

Additionally, Lauren led all crisis communications management, as well as promoting and defending the personal brands of anchors and correspondents, as well as CNN’s brand as a whole.


She managed the show publicists and teams responsible for aggressively promoting show content, major anchor interviews, and elements of all Washington programming including Inside Politics with John King and Abby Phillip, The Lead with Jake Tapper, The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer, State of the Union with Jake Tapper and Dana Bash and all of CNN’s weekend and special programming.


Lauren led all political event logistics, brand strategy, communications, and partnerships for media filing centers and spin rooms– including more than three dozen Town Halls and all CNN Presidential Primary and General Election Debates since 2013. This work often entailed working in coordination with CNN Marketing, CNN Digital and CNN Special Events teams to develop and execute cross platform proposals for all events.


During her time at CNN, Lauren pitched, managed and placed hundreds of stories featuring CNN reporting and journalists from

start to finish, including photo shoots, reporter interviews, quote approvals, company statements, etc.
