WASHINGTON — Blue Engine Message & Media, a leading DC-based strategic communications firm, today announced the addition of two new members of its growing practice. Carly Coakley and Kris Fetterman join Blue Engine from Teach for America and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, respectively. Kris replaces former Blue Engineer TJ Adams-Falconer who left the firm to rejoin the White House press office. Carly’s position is a newly created role.

“As our clients’ needs continue to expand and as we take on new and exciting projects, we are pleased to bring on two new team members with both the commitment to excellence and enthusiastic outlook required to meaningfully contribute to our growing team,” said Erik Smith, Founder of Blue Engine.

Kris Fetterman, a native of the Pittsburgh region, comes to Blue Engine from the National Cable & Telecommunications Association where he led message and material development for a targeted outreach strategy around the re-introduction of the cable industry to policymakers and their staff. Additionally, he assisted with analysis and development of congressional research and committee hearing and markup reports, building upon his communications and policy experience earned while interning for U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen’s D.C. office and U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak’s Senate exploratory committee.

Prior to joining Blue Engine, Carly Coakley served as a teacher with Teach for America in Charlotte, N.C., for two years. While teaching seventh grade science, Carly was chairwoman of the Albemarle Middle School Science Department and was selected to be a Teach for America Corps Member Ambassador. As a Corps Member Ambassador, Carly established afterschool childcare and literacy programs to engage parents, students and community leaders to address bridging the achievement gap.
