Washington, DC— Blue Engine Message & Media is pleased to announce that Tiffany M. Edwards, former press secretary for the U.S. House of Representatives Education and the Workforce Committee and deputy press secretary for the Department of Energy, has joined its growing strategic communications practice. As a senior communications counselor in the federal government with a particular focus on energy, education reform and child welfare policies, Tiffany joins the firm’s senior strategists in helping non-profits, coalitions and national trade associations create, develop and implement successful public affairs and crisis communications campaigns.

“Tiffany brings a lot of experience to the table and I’m delighted to welcome her to the Blue Engine team,” said Erik Smith, founder of Blue Engine.

“Her professionalism, strategic thinking, and experience on and off the Hill will ensure that critical issues important to our practice are communicated effectively and receive the public attention they deserve,” Smith added.

Most recently, Tiffany served as Press Secretary for the U.S. House Education and the Workforce Committee where she developed an expertise in planning and executing media strategies to build support around complex issues. In this role, Tiffany acted as spokeswoman and media strategist on a wide range of issues including student loans, No Child Left Behind, child safety and disability policy.

Prior to joining the committee, Tiffany served as Deputy Press Secretary at the U.S. Department of Energy for the first two years of the Obama Administration. In that capacity, Tiffany was the primary department contact for journalists across the country on issues related to science, technology and electricity policy.  Most notably, Tiffany oversaw and implemented the press rollout for the inaugural ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit and the America’s Next Top Energy Innovator challenge, both of which made it easier for start-up companies to succeed and create clean energy jobs in America.

Blue Engine also announced today that TJ Adams-Falconer has joined the firm. A California native, TJ most recently worked as an intern in the White House press office where he worked closely with the regional communication director coordinating briefings, monitoring regional news coverage and drafting press releases from the administration. Prior to his time in the White House, TJ worked in the communications office of California Governor Jerry Brown where he served as the first point of contact for the governor on all press related issues.
