Tankersley, who joined the Post in 2012 as a reporter on economic issues and contributor to the popular WonkBlog, will lead a staff of writers and “data wizards” in the new venture. The yet-to-be-named initiative will combine “data analysis with rich human drama” to “illuminate complicated public policy topics,” featuring narratives and data driven stories using “words, photographs and video; vibrant graphics” to explain trends and engage readers.
