According to Preply, 7 in 10 people – a full 76% of men and 66% of women – say they regularly use corporate jargon at work. The vast majority (76%) said they do so to seem more professional in the office… though does it actually achieve that goal?

To study office lingo, Preply surveyed 1,551 employed adults. What they found: many of the most common business buzzards are actually among the most hated. The top 10 most used buzzwords probably sound familiar – words like “win-win,” “culture,” “ASAP,” “think outside the box,” and “circle back” topped the list. However, half of the most-used buzzwords are also those that employees find most annoying, including “new normal,” “culture,” “circle back,” “win-win,” and “think outside the box.”

See below for the top 10 most annoying buzzwords – those you should eliminate from your language:

If you want to elevate your language beyond tired and overused buzzwords, Seven Letter Insight can help refresh your messaging.
