If you’re like the majority of Americans, you’ll be catching evening fireworks on or around July 4th. To learn more about how Americans are planning to spend their holiday, YouGov surveyed 1,014 U.S. adults on their Fourth of July plans. What they found: celebrating with others topped the list. 65% of Americans planned to watch fireworks, 22% said they would attend a public event or parade, 14% are headed to the beach or park, and nearly half (48%) planned to host or attend a July 4th barbeque.
And what are these grill-goers eating? Hamburgers are most popular (64% of Americans said they planned to eat them on July 4), followed by hot dogs (54%). Also on the menu: watermelon (48%), corn on the cob (47%), and potato salad (41%). A smaller slice of Americans – just 14% – were planning to celebrate with apple pie.
