Did the 2024 presidential election come down to voting for a party or a candidate? To understand what was driving voters’ choices at the ballot, Seven Letter Insight conducted a nationwide Post-Election Poll of one thousand self-identified 2024 election voters from November 7-13, 2024.
Seven Letter’s Post-Election Poll is different. Instead of surveying LIKELY voters before the election about HOW they plan to vote, our survey asks CONFIRMED voters challenging prioritization questions after the election to determine WHAT priorities and expectations they have for the incoming leadership.
In this detailed survey, we asked confirmed Republican voters how they best described themselves: a supporter of Donald Trump or a supporter of the Republican Party. What we learned: a majority (61%) of Republican voters support Donald Trump personally, rather than just the Republican Party as a whole. So, most Republican voters weren’t just voting for the Republican party – they were voting for Donald Trump specifically.
This alignment with Trump translated to trust. Seven Letter Insight’s Post-Election Poll also asked all confirmed voters which candidate they trusted more across a host of different issues. What we found: Trump led in trust on most of the important issues. With the exception of abortion (which Harris led, with 49% trust compared to Trump’s 45%), Trump was trusted more than Harris to handle the issues that mattered the most to voters: the economy (52% trusted Trump, compared to 46% Harris), immigration (53% to 44%), crime and safety (52% to 46%), and ability to lead in a crisis (52% Trump, 46% Harris).
